neil gaiman

so i've noticed that 6 different people on my friends list all have neil gaiman listed in their interests.
and then there are more i know who like gaiman but don't have livejournals...

so...

SOMEONE - please lend me one of his books, and i will read it!
given that all my friends seem to love him, I probably will too!

Out of Neil Gaimans books, the most popular is "American Gods". Many people also enjoy his first solo book; "Neverwhere".

These two books are of a completely different style, and each style is done well, which leads one to be very impressed with his versatility. If I were to recommend one for you to read, I would choose Neverwhere.

Actually, that one has been recommended to me as well.
I should find a copy.

The name 'neverwhere' makes me think of Alice in Wonderland, for some reason...

Neverwhere is very much like Alice in Wonderland... a horror version of Alice in Wonderland set in present day England, with a lot of dark humor.

Weird. For some reason I think I knew that, but I don't know why!
Like I just had an instinct that that was the case from the title.
That is kind of eerie.... as I don't remember anyone ever telling me that, and I don't remember reading that before.

Oh! Good Omens looks to be very good. I read the first chapter, and nearly busted my side open from laughing so hard. From just the excerpt that I read, I'd recommend it even more than the other two.

Only problem is that, it's not entirely Neil Gaiman, so... If you're looking for just him, you've got only those two books from which to choose.

I read American Gods after seeing Babycakes, but the book didn't live up.
