yesterday i had a few coolers at the fringe beer tent.
one tasted like an orange creamsicle. the other was some wild berry falvour.
i like the orange one better.

i went to organic planet worker co-op for dinner at the deli.
i had soup and sunflower pate and a cone!
the cone was something new they had.
in think they are called 'cool hemp' cones... they are made primarily from hemp seeds, which i know are very nutirious... hence, i thought i'd give one a try. there were three flavours to chose from, and i tried the maple flavour (there was also chocolate and natural - which i would imagine tastes like hemp seeds), and it was quite nice!

i want to walk around and take some pictures of winnipeg, but i don't quite have the time yet...
it's my prediction that i won't have the time until tuesday afternoon.

i'm giving a 30 minute lecture to a class on monday at the university of winnipeg about my play and how it relates to 'prophetic imagination' and/or 'imagination of the heart'; i still have to prepare for that. the professor of the class saw the play yesterday and he said he was very much looking forward to my presentation.

i keep sleeping funny on my neck and it's stiff. not nearly as bad as that one instance about a week ago, but it's still enough to be noticeable and cause discomfort.

i still haven't made up my mind about taking over the lease of my friend's apartment upon the completion of my tour. i think i may... but it's hard to decide. i really do want to check out montreal and try living there. but simultaneously, i have a strong desire to live by myself for a while - and i doubt i'd be able to find a cheap 1 bedroom apartment in montreal. my friend's apartment, although small, is only $345/mo which includes heat (via radiator) and water. although i'm pretty certain i'll take the apartment, i still haven't decided for certain as of yet. i've also heard that living alone really helps with one's creativity, due to the lack of distractions. since i certainly want to work on my writing, i think it would probably be best. i suppose montreal will have to wait on hold for now... unless... those from montreal who may be reading this - is it possible to find a really cheap 1 bedroom apartment in montreal? i don't mind living in crappy areas...

anyway, more on this later; i should get going... i have lots of stuff i need to get done today!
and i am going to see my friends' show tonight, in 'peep show: an erotic comdey' :)

oh dear. the title of that play just swung my mood over into the naughty zone. hahahaha.
i should do a sexy play. it would be fun...

Apartments come in all flavours and sizes here in Montréal. The one that [info]jul3z and i live in costs a little more than normal, but it's also a little higher quality, and quite spacious, compared to other apartments which might be available.

Try moremontreal.com, that's where we found both of the apartments we've lived in out here. :) If you need any advice on anything you find, just ask!

Yeah, found my apartment through that web site as well. A number of people praise the famous craigslist web site, but I haven't used it myself.

For reference purpose, my apartment is $550 a month, does not include electricity (and is electrically heated). It's rather large, though, but in a somewhat iffy neighborhood according to some (although I find the immediate neighborhood quite nice, there are certain areas further away from the Lachine canal which do not inspire too much confidence!).

compared to the apartments i've lived in, and where i am staying with my friend right now in winnipeg, i'd say that your apartment isn't really very large - comparatively speaking, that is. my friend's apartment is huge and only $515/mo. (she thinks the sqaure footage is about 990) - and it's in a nice neighborhood, too! but they usually don't come that cheap here for that size and price.

thanks for the great link!

i do have a question tho... when something says 2 1/2 rooms, i realize it would be a one bedroom with the 1/2 refering to the bathroom. but, the other room... is that refering to a livingroom or a kitchen? is there a standard, or does it vary...?

It varies. It can mean a separate bedroom with a kitchenette in the main room, or it could be a separate kitchen with just the one room for living in. I've seen both, though I suppose that the latter is a bit more common.

ahhh, ok.
so it all depends on the specific location.

thanks!

This is, in fact, one of the maddening aspects of apartment hunting in Québec (or any Francophone region, it would seem). The numbering system is wide open to interpretation. When you phone about a place, it's always important to ask how many "closed" rooms it has, and which ones they are.

I made my rounds of the Fringe Beer Tent that night, too. Those orange creamsicle drinks looked good, but we had just come from the Kings Head and I decided it was best not to mix. Good times were had by all, though.
Sounds like I might be coming out to the Sunday show. I work 'till 5, but I gave Erica the sad puppy dog face, and she's gonna buy me a ticket. Looking forward to it!
